Days & Months Flashcards
Plans, bookings and birthdays: the days of the week and months of the year, plus 'today' — the vocabulary of every calendar conversation. Pick your language — every deck is free to read and free to study with spaced repetition.
Why learn the calendar words early
Making any plan — a booking, a meeting, a ticket — needs the days and months, which makes them some of the first vocabulary you actually deploy in the real world. They also hide lovely history: in most European languages the days are named for planets and gods (lunes/lundi from the Moon, martes/mardi from Mars), so learning them across languages doubles as a small mythology lesson. The decks above cover all seven days and twelve months in six languages. Learn the days first (only seven words, used constantly), then the months, and note that unlike English, most European languages do not capitalise either.
Study them so they stick
Reading a word list once is recognition, not knowledge. Pick your language above, read through the deck, then save it to a free account and let spaced repetition schedule the reviews — a few minutes a day and the whole set moves into long-term memory. Curious how that works? Our guide to the spaced repetition algorithm explains it in plain English.
